An Adam his own

November 21, 2017

Yes, we are each a son, a brother, a father, a grandson, a husband, or some such other. But more than anything we are each our own. In a way that we do not relate to another, are not subject to another, nor an extension of the other, nor accountable to/for another. Where we are each responsible to God merely for what we ourselves are, what we have done (will do) with our lives, what we have done (will do) with the world given to us, the world that contains all the rest, whether people, things, circumstances, others. It’s a bit like a lone Adam without another, the lord and ruler of his own world. Responsible for an Eden his own.
