Fruit of the spirit

February 25, 2017

Love, joy, peace, patience, the list goes. But is it just love that always smiles and gushes right through refusing to rub ever? Joy that always only brims with no frown ever? To be sure, the point of the passage I still think is to recommend the warm feeling of love to be given a chance with the most impossible people or a visible positive effervescence against compelling despair that dampens. However, most certainly it can’t be the denial of just any apparent ‘hate,’ ‘sorrow,’ or the remaining corresponding opposites. For perspective is to be the guide. Hate that confronts, corrects or disciplines is not hate but love in fact. Likewise sorrow that guards, contends, defends is joy itself. Wisdom is needed to employ the right form. Intention/motive makes the difference. And wisdom is proved right by all her children, now patience, now correction, now mercy, now justice.
