The child

A proud prince, a stoic soul, a sturdy shoulder that bore the load was finally reduced to a little child. His wit and wisdom had kept kings and masters writhing under his little finger, but not now. The man of the home, the marvel of the masses, the master of his followers, the father of men had finally been reduced to a weakling. Hung on two pegs he couldn’t manage this little ache. Longing for pity, some attention to his pain, he helplessly announced, ‘I thirst.’
