The drama

May 18, 2016

Jesus was surprised that all the drama was so out of keeping with who he was. To catch a man – who’d always been around them, who’d fearlessly declared everything in their midst, right in the temple courts, who’d not created a commotion ever – such a quiet man with swords and clubs and a huge band of Roman soldiers, that’s what baffled him. But as he thought aloud, reckoning to himself (and speaking to them alongside) that all these had to be so that Scripture would be fulfilled, he gave in, allowing them to complete what he was carefully guarding: the breaking of his body, the pouring of his blood.
