Jesus

April 28, 2016

He seemed to have incredible clarity. The crowds didn’t make Jesus. Jesus made the crowds. It often happens that when fans multiply for a hero they start to condition him/her. Like Pavlov’s little puppy. And what poor heroes they become! Dragged around here and there. But of course none of that would work with Jesus, for at every turn this is evident. They come to crown him King (because he fed 5000 with 5 loaves) but he escapes. They find him after much searching and he freaks them out. A lady from the crowd shouts, ‘Blessed is the one who bore you!’ and without missing a beat He replies, “Blessed rather are those who hear the Word of God and obey it!” Though people were willing to make a demigod out of him he wouldn’t commit himself to them. For he knew what was in a man.

But they kept coming. Because He was irresistible.
