Before the cock crows

April 21, 2016

We could be that close to the precipice and yet not perceive it at all! Peter had been one of Jesus’ closest disciples. He loved Jesus. His zeal for the Christ knew little limits. In deed at that very moment he swore should the whole world desert Jesus, Peter would never. And almost with a touch of humor Jesus butted in, ‘You who’ve been with me night and day for some three odd years, who is deeply fond of me and ‘loyal’ to me, who’s declared your supreme devotion to me, won’t hold out for the next hour or two! That soon you’ll swear (not sheepishly mumble, mind you) you even know me! Not once, not twice, but three different times.’

Loyalty is an expensive thing. It ought to last past the next daybreak. In deed forever.
