Law for law’s sake

December 11, 2015

Keeping law for law’s sake is the only way you keep law, all other options equal lawlessness. Law does not depend on the offender or the offended. And when we choose not to be offended (for any reason we might pick a fancy!) we are polluting the land, the corporate hand gets stained with blood, and the terrible consequences of our brazen folly will visit us, our children, our grandchildren. Starting with the group it will trickle down to the individual. There is no escape. Remember to embrace the consequence if you turned an offender. This is precisely why it calls for great pain at the individual level to live an ethical life and not have to be policed by anybody. This is where the secret to keeping a law to its spirit lies, for none can keep it to the letter.
