The map

September 2, 2015

Imagine meandering through a trackless waste. You are all alone, you have no clue which direction to head, everything is unfamiliar and unknown, you don’t know if all the distance you covered took you toward or away from home, you don’t know what to put your energy into, fear grips you, you don’t know how soon you will reach home. Now imagine the same with a map. You are all alone but not clueless, without a single landmark you can trace your steps from sunrise to sunset, though you’ve never seen that mountain or valley before you know exactly which pathway leads across, at every point you have that confidence and assurance because the map helped you predict what would come ahead and confirmed what you came past, you know exactly how far you’ve come and how far you need to go, you know exactly when and how much energy is right for that hill/valley/plain, in spite of some fear you are not without a sense of being anchored.
