Some things are plain inexcusable, for e.g.: you may be shy but you can’t refuse to answer the calling bell or offer your guest basic courtesies. You may have been in a hurry, but you couldn’t have rushed out of the house without locking the doors or securing the house properly. You may have been multitasking but you couldn’t have left the stove unattended. The secret to avoiding needless excuses is to be mentally present, responsible and sacrificial. For if you’re always dwelling in an alternate world you will miss out stuff in the real one. If you don’t take responsibility, you will always assume someone else will attend to it. Finally it takes some extra grace, extra attention, extra energy to refrain from having to apologize and that takes some sacrifice/commitment.
