The camp of the defeated

March 18, 2015

There is that strange and warm welcome in the camp of the defeated. It’s as if they invite with open arms. But to join them you must be defeated too, else they will reject you. For they fear one undefeated. Probably for fear you are not one of them. Until you’ve tasted their pain, you’re all too unfamiliar. You’re yet uninitiated. But should one have to go through this rite of passage? To be defeated? But then to remain outside their camp is to remain a minority, a child, an uninitiated adult whose now elevated station remains unrecognized. But then goodness and excellence are always a minority. There is only one leader. The best in a skewed graph are in the narrow area. I wonder whether to grow in goodness one must necessarily be defeated.
